MEET AMY KARKI
Artist, Photographer, Educator
Amy Karki is a photographer, painter, and compulsive reader of books living in Sarasota, Florida. Originally from the Pacific Northwest, she received degrees in Photography and Art History and is currently working toward a graduate degree in Studio Art and Education, as well as teaching Digital Photography and lecturing about Art History for the Continuing Education program at the Ringling College of Art and Design.
Inspired by nature, history, and travel, Amy has created and shown work throughout the Northwest, New York and Europe. She believes that art is about connection as much as self-expression, and is always interested in new collaborations and dialogues, as well as different ways to capture the senses and spirit of people, places and moments.
She also loves animals, film, and crime shows, particularly the British ones. (And, contrary to the otherwise very definitive photo at left, she does know how to properly hold a camera).
